LEADS Merit Award

About LEADS

LEADS formally became an organization in June 1984 under an Act to incorporate the Saskatchewan League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents.  All individuals who are employed by a Board of Education in a supervisory or administrative capacity and have an out-of-scope designation are required to be members of the League.  Members include Directors of Education, Deputy Directors, Superintendents, Supervisors and those in other out-of-scope related positions.  

Criteria for the LEADS Merit Award (Former LEADS Member): 

  • Made a significant contribution to the education sector and to the LEADS organization specifically. 
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration with the Ministry of Education, SSBA, STF and SASBO. 
  • Strong acumen in all areas of senior administration. 
  • Demonstrated the competencies and professional character that many aspire to. 
  • Provided leadership in a variety of capacities and represented the LEADS organization with pride and generosity. 
  • Strong advocate and broker for the children and youth of Saskatchewan. 

The recipient of this year’s Merit Award is Christine Boyczuk. 

Christine has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to learning and has made contributions to the educational landscape across the Province of Saskatchewan. Christine is currently Vice-Chair of the Holy Trinity School Division and Moose Jaw Literacy Coordinator. 

Christine became a LEADS member in 1987 as Superintendent of Curriculum and Consultative Services and Gifted Education, Moose Jaw Public Board of Education. She went on to become Assistant Director and then Director of the Davidson School Division. Christine was a founding member of WILL (Women in Leadership and LEDS) and a founding member of Rural Congress, where she continued to play an active role on the Rural Congress planning committee for over 15 years. Christine has presented at over 50 provincial, national and international conferences. 

Christine, in addition to being a prolific and entertaining presenter, published many educational articles and worked to ensure educators had access to quality professional learning. A lifelong learner, Christine is a promoter and supporter of post-secondary education as well as K-12, and was sessional lecturer at the University of Regina and a member of the SIAST Board of Directors in the mid 1990’s. 

In addition to her many contributions in education, Christine remains an active community member, spearheading and participating in many community boards and committees. She has been recognized for her contributions over the years and is the recipient of many awards. 

Christine has made a significant contribution to the education sector and to the LEADS organization.
